Accessibility Statement
Last updated: August 2026
The NSFW Nerd is committed to making its website usable by as many people as possible, including people with disabilities. We build and test against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 (opens in a new tab), the standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Conformance target
Our goal is full conformance with WCAG 2.2 Level AA, with many Level AAA enhancements applied where practical — including:
- Enhanced colour contrast (7:1 for body text)
- A visible "skip to main content" link and clear, high-contrast keyboard focus
- Descriptive link text that makes sense out of context
- Large touch targets (44 × 44 px)
- Respect for the operating-system "reduce motion" setting
- Full keyboard operability, including the age-verification dialog
- An on-page accessibility toolbar for personal display adjustments (see below)
Personalise this site
Every page includes an accessibility toolbar — look for the round accessibility button () in the lower-left corner. Open it to adjust the site to your needs, and your choices are remembered as you browse:
- High-contrast themes (dark or light) and colour-saturation controls
- Bigger text, increased line height, and letter/word spacing
- A dyslexia-friendly font, link highlighting, and text alignment
- Pause animations, hide images, an enlarged cursor, and on-focus descriptions
The toolbar is fully keyboard-operable, works with screen readers, and stores your preferences only in your own browser — nothing is sent to a server. It is a convenience layer on top of the site's built-in accessibility, not a replacement for it.
Known limitations
WCAG Level AAA is not fully achievable for every type of content, and we do not claim complete AAA conformance. Specifically:
- Reading level (WCAG 3.1.5): our in-depth reviews are written for a general adult audience and may exceed a lower-secondary reading level. The "At a glance" summary card on each review offers a simpler alternative.
- Third-party destinations: tools we link to are operated by other companies, and we cannot guarantee the accessibility of their websites.
Assistive technology
The site is tested with keyboard-only navigation, browser zoom up to 400%, and screen readers (NVDA on Windows, VoiceOver on iOS). Decorative imagery is served as CSS backgrounds and is ignored by screen readers.
